2 Months

Ashton at 2 Months

Wow, how time flies! I cannot believe my sweet baby boy is 2 months old. We are loving every minute and trying to take it all in. We went to the doctor today for his 2 month check up and everything checked out great. He is growing like a weed and we are no longer concerned with his weight. Ashton did great with the vaccines! His mother on the other hand was a nervous wreck. I cannot believe that I use to give thousands of shots a day at my former job without giving it a second thought. When it's your baby getting them...it's a whole different story!! It broke my heart to see him scream out in pain, but I just kept telling him it was all because we loved him. Right?!?!?!

John Ashton's Stats:
WEIGHT
11lbs 9oz. 50th percentile
LENGTH
23 3/4 in 80th percentile
HEAD
15 1/2 50th percentile

Ashton has really changed over the last few weeks. He is wearing 3-6 month clothes due to his length and he loves to stretch those long arms and legs! He will actually lay on the floor and entertain himself for a few minutes! Woohoo!! He loves for us to talk, smile, and read to him. He is really smiling a lot ( a smile that will absolutely melt your heart) and making lots of fun sounds! I think he is really close to laughing out loud too. Over the last few nights he is sleeping better! He is only waking up once during night and he has even been taking a 3 hour nap during the day. Of course, it helps that we are swaddling his long arms nice and tight so that he doesn't startle himself. The sound machine seems to be helping quite a bit too (thanks MiMi for the suggestions:)!! He may be long, but he still loves to curl up in a little ball and cuddle...you know I'll cuddle with him whenever he wants!!

I Love Bath Time!!

Enjoying a Little "Tummy Time"

Catching Some Rays...and Some Shut-Eye!!

We thank God everyday for blessing us with this sweet baby boy! I am sad that he is growing up so fast but I am so excited for all the new things he is doing and going to do. Thank you God for choosing us to raise this precious boy!

Easter Weekend

Ashton & Reagan made their first road trip (further than Target) for Easter weekend to Jackson. They left together and drove to Mississippi while I followed a few days later. What a great time!! Ashton was sooo excited to meet his cousins for the first time! He really likes Campbell since they are only a couple of weeks apart.

The weather was beautiful all weekend so we spent quite a bit of time outside. One of the main events of the weekend (not discounting Easter in any way) was the 6th Annual Patterson Crawfish Boil. John Barry sure does know how to cook 'em...If you can feel your lips, add more seasoning!! The older kids spent all day riding in their toy Gator, jumping in the bounce house, and swinging in the tree house. They were all pretty tired each night though so that was great!!

Sunday we took Ashton to church for the first time. Thank you Jerry for putting him to sleep for the entire service!! I personally enjoyed it, but Ashton's manners just aren't that great yet...must be from his momma! After visiting with lots of good friends we went back to Mimi & Paw Paw's for pictures (which you can see were an adventure), hunting Easter eggs, an amazing dinner, and NAPS!!!

By the time we got everyone back to Birmingham, it was very obvious that Ashton had continued to change. Much more alert when looking around, willing to lay on the floor and relax (even if it's just for 10min), and best of all...smiling all the time!!!! Each day is an adventure, but we absolutely love it!!

Tired out after a long weekend!

One Month!

I know I am behind but for my records Ashton's One Month Birthday was Thursday, March 25, 2010.......

He just gets cuter and cuter everyday! He is starting to smile and make some noises. He HATES to be naked, dislikes diaper changes, bathtime, and being put down. He LOVES to be held tight, to snuggle, to suck on his pacy, to rock, to eat every 2-3 hours, and loves to look around. I am not able to get much done around the house, unless I put him in the Baby Bjorn. They say you can't spoil them at this age, but He is definitely spoiled. (I know, I know it's my fault.)

a rare nap in the swing!

realizing that he is not being held!!

sweet baby

We are really enjoying our time with Ashton. Who knew you could love someone so much. We love him more and more everyday! I also did not know how much the love for my husband would grow. He is a wonderful daddy and husband. He really loves to help and I love watching him with Ashton. It is so cute to see John holding Ashton in the crook of his arm and they're watching ESPN together. I am loving our life as a family of three and I am so grateful that God blessed us with sweet baby Ashton.

Catching Up!!

I am trying to catch up on my blog so this post is going to be lots of pictures, which is what everyone wants anyway right?

First Doctor Visit

headed to see Dr. Anderson

Ahhhhhhh!!

We had to visit the pediatrician two days after we left the hospital due to weight concerns. Ashton had lost quite a bit of weight before we left the hospital so they wanted to make sure he was gaining. He gained some but was not up to birth weight so we had to check back in 2 weeks later. Needless to say after 2 more visits with his Doctor, I think we are finally on the right track and gaining the appropriate amount of weight!

Favorite Pics of the Day!
My mom started the pic of the day while she was here and we would take his picture and email it out each day. So for those of you who were not on the email list here are a few of my favorites. Oh and now it is better know as "pic of the week"

Now that I feel caught up I will tell you that I love being a mom. Ashton is a sweet baby and we are learning more and more everyday!! Stay tuned for his one month post!

Bringing Baby Home

So I realize that I am way behind but I am going to try to catch up quickly, So here we go...
We left the hospital on Sunday, February 28th. and we have been trying to survive since then.

Getting ready to head home!

Headed home!

My mom (MiMi) stayed for about two weeks to help us out, and a huge help she was! She cooked, cleaned, did the laundry, and snuggled with Ashton. He is quite the snuggler and loves to be held so it was a huge help to have extra hands! (And she spoiled her big baby too.) Thanks mom, and thanks to PawPaw for letting her stay!

MiMi & PawPaw

Then John's parents (Grandmommy & Pop Pop) came in town to help out and to meet the newest addition. John's mom stayed a few extra days and was also a huge help! Thanks Grandmommy!

The Three Generations of John Turner's

We have been so blessed by all the wonderful couples at Homewood Church of Christ too! Different families were bringing us meals every other day which was a huge help and it was nice to meet everyone too. We are excited to get back to church and get involved.

So that is a brief summary of bringing Ashton home check back in for Bethany's visit, easter, and the Neely's visit. I will try to do a better job but I have to admit that the blog has been on the bottom of my list of things to do. I wonder why?!

February 25, 2010

Well I know I am way behind on the blog, but things around the Turner household have changed! On Monday, February 22, we went to our doctor's appointment in hopes that we had made some progress towards delivery (Since his due date was the next day), but no such luck. Baby T was still floating up high and I had not progressed at all. So after much discussion and a lot of guidance from our wonderful doctor we decided that a c-section was best. So we scheduled it for that Thursday, allowing Baby T a few days to decide to come on his own, and of course, he didn't. He was obviously in no hurry to leave his warm, dark, cramped living space. So on Thursday Morning at the early hour of 4:30 am we left for the hospital. We checked in at 5:00 am for a 7:15 start time....

Headed to the hospital!

At 7:20 am John Ashton Turner made his debut at 7lbs 13oz. and 21 inches long! It was love at first sight! I have always heard how amazing it is to see your baby for the first time and the love you immediately feel but WOW!!! It is AMAZING!!

Mimi and Paw Paw were there to greet us as we arrived in our room. That evening Justin and Bethany came for their first visit. Aunt Nat joined the party on Friday night! Ashton was so excited to meet all of his visitors! He greeted everyone with wide eyes!

Here is our first video upload since Ashton was born. This is just a test, but as you can see at the end of the video, I need to help too (I thought I was just the camera man!!).
